Welcome to the first video of the series: Zoom Explores! Follow us as we explore Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Located in Coral Gables, the 83-acre botanic garden hosts thousands of plants and animals, and includes an Exotic Butterfly Exhibit. The Garden also has it’s own Garden Café and offers its visitors the opportunity to learn, relax and enjoy Miami. Keep reading to learn about other activities!
Each year, the Garden offers a number of events for both members and non-members to attend. Events such as the Bird Festival, the International Chocolate Festival, the International Orchid Festival and the International Mango Festival among many others. It offers a number of concerts and special art events; for example, it held a special exhibit for Dale Chihuly–some of his sculptures still stand in the Garden.
Among many of it’s programs, the Garden offers Afternoon Tea days, art classes, cuisine classes, and photography classes. The prices per class vary; click here to see what’s offered! You can also volunteer or even intern at the Garden in one of it’s many areas, including research, field biology, horticulture and education.
And if you’re just looking for something to do on one of many of Miami’s sunny afternoons, why not find a perfect spot underneath one of the 3,000 different plant species, and look out at the beautiful outdoors.
The Garden is open every day from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you become a member, entrance is free. Otherwise, prices vary between $12 to $25 dollars depending on age. To learn more, visit the Fairchild Website.
